New Option to Complement the Anti Spam System on Forumotion Forums

Hello,

To guarantee the best protection against spammers, and to keep updating our first installment of the anti-spam system on Forumotion forums, we are back with two new options to make it even more effective. Very Happy

This new system will target members and guest and to guarantee maximum protection. Wink

>> The first option is available in at Admin Panel>> General>> Security>> Security Administration >> Unauthorize subscriptions made with the most commonly used spam usernames.

If enabled, it will acts in real time to acquire, identify and prohibit the registration in your forum for the most commonly used spam usernames on the web.

>> The second option is available in at Admin Panel>> General>> Security>> Security Administration>> Unauthorize unofficial forms to post messages and private messages on the forum

It gives the admin the ability to allow or not external scripts forms (not developed by Forumotion) to post on the forum. Enabling this feature will prevent any external script to post content on your forums and keeping them protected from spam.

On addintion of that, another active safety system works continuously in the background and analysis in real time connections and actions of your forum members and intervenes if a suspicious action is detected. Mr. Green

UPDATE: Security

Hello,

In addition to our last security update, we have two new security options that will help protect your forum from spammers.

Here are the details of these new security additions:

Disable external links to guests in messages: This will disable guest from clicking links on your forum. Guest will see links as regular text. This can be managed in the security options in the general tab.
Display to guests, signatures from : This can give permissions to display signatures for the guests. Therefore, the admin can choose whether they wish that guests have access to all signatures, or admins and mods only or not at all. In this case, even if the signatures are enabled on the forum, guest will see nothing at all. You can manage this feature in the Messages and email configuration.

Thanks for the security updates - much appreciated.

I have a comment about the language used in the admin panel when describing some of the security options.

Unauthorize subscriptions made with the most commonly used spam usernames.

Instead of using "Unauthorize... etc", would it be better to use plainer language and say something along the lines of "Allow subscriptions made with the most commonly used spam usernames - yes or no".

Just a thought.
