How to increase width of forum borderwrap?

Can anyone tell me how to widen my forum properly? I'm specifically referring to the borderwrap. Before you reply, I have read up on others' problems and briefly tested their solutions. I've tried the settings in configuration (page structure) and manipulating the removing the max/min width under ipbwrapper in my css. Neither worked for me, and the only temp solution with mild success was the altered settings on the div.borderwrap,.borderwrap.m classes. I later removed it when advised it was problematic. My ideal width is 1060px+. Any suggestions?

Code:
#content {
  margin: 0 auto;
  padding: 20px;
  text-align: left;
  width: 1060px;
}
