Usernames already taken on a newly made forum?

About two days ago I started putting together a forum here: http://strikeforcearchon.forums1.net/ problem is despite it being just me with my account and my admin account registered some of the guild members gets a "name taken" message when they try to sign up. Any ideas as to why?

Users & groups>Inactive users
Activate the user from there.

What username are they trying?

Try this (use the advanced admin panel) :

General > Security > Unauthorize subscriptions made with the most commonly used spam usernames : No

Thanks I will try that last one, and fairly normal names like Nathaniel. Problem is with only 1 user <-- having two accounts none of the names tried should have been taken.
