This is a suggestion about improving the Personalized Profile, or it's appearance, to be more precisely.
The actual Issue:
You know, this is how people see this fields when they have edit-permissions:
You can see that all those people wont see the actual profile field - they will just see the code box with the html-codes inside. This is pretty annoying when using these fields e.g. for RPG's where people with edit-rights also participate. They won't see their own items, badges or images. And i think that it's even worse when you made the field editable by all users for example. The Admin will in general see only code snippets as well, unless it's also visible in the posters profile nearby the posts... =/
My suggestion for a solution:
In my opinion it would be much better, if those field would show the normal 'preview' (the pictures or whatever you put in those fields) by default. The "modify" button would then be used to start the edit-mode, where the code box appears and you can change the html or BBcode. Clicked again, and the changes are being saved (text on the button should then say 'Save' or something).
A rather small suggestion i admit, but I think that would make those feature much more attractive. Please vote if you agree or disagree and post the reason here. Thank you!
Hope thats actually the appropriate section, considered to put that in problems section. But I'm pretty sure that isn't already a feature of forumotion.

I think this is a great option. Even if it is only a small suggestion, it can be great, solving more than one problem.

Yes, it's not really a big suggestion, but I still think it could make the pers. profile feature much more user-friendly.
*bump* by the way.

So basically you are saying you want WYSIWYG for the profile fields?
6 Sunny_D, on 20/02/2008 at 01h12
hm... that could be an idea as well. it would just be nice to see the actual bbCodes and html-codes rendered in the profiles by default - just as it would looks when a member watches the profile that does not have editing permissions.

very good idea

The only problem I might see with this, is that if you wanted to recall the codes you used, you won't be able to, because it is showing the actual pictures or whatever you added.
Cases where I think one might want to recall those codes is when helping someone else who wants the same thing, and you couldn't go copy and paste it to them, or if you had another forum and wanted to transfer the same thing to that forum, and you forget the code, you might not be able to retrieve it then.
I hope that makes sense.

Sunny . . . don't completely understand this, lol - but if it makes things easier for those of us code *challenged* folks, then it's a-go with me!

Bpoetic, they should make a rank for ppl like us and call us Code Challenged. hehehe
Oh and I don't always understand Sunny either. I usually just grin

lol, i sense a conspiration!
I'll try to explain it again:
I'd like to have an "edit" button allows you to view and edit the code of the personalized profiles. When you made your changes, you'd hit save and the pictures show up again.
EDIT: this should also answer your previous argument, skittles:

YES! ! !
if you have some typo in your HTML, theres no way to see, because only other members that are not you can see the actual published html..
(why?)
The profile is the place to edit.. ~ your profile view should be for viewing...???

I voted Yes for this.
I also wanted to see what the members see in actual (not just the codes).

Right at the moment if we add anything to a profile it goes on every members profile or mini profile. i was wondering if there could be a option made that you can select which group/members profile this can go on. i.e make only VIP members have a tag line
so i created a custom profile field.. it's an image list...
but i want to select both of these.. not only one..
