hey, is there a way of enabling a staff member to check each post before the whole world sees it? i have made a club penguin site and dont want any abusive posts in the forum.

You mean like a way so that all posts must be approved before they are "released" to the general forum members? I don't think it's such a good idea, sorry.

I wish you had included your reasoning.

I've been searching the support forums for the last hour, trying to find whether Forumotion.com (phpBB3) forums allow a moderator to approve a post before the post appears on the forum. I've finished my search here.

Personally, I'm amazed that Forumotion.com forums do not allow this ability, and judging by the results of this poll so far, a large percentage of respondents agree.

If Forumotion.com forums do not allow a moderator to approve a post before the post appears on the forum, then here's the results:

  • garbage posts will always have some "air time" in the forum

  • a conscientious moderator must read all of the posts anyway to find the garbage ones

Geez, if Forumotion.com forums are all about providing a multitude of options to forum administrators, then let the administrators choose whether a moderator must approve a post before it appears on the forum.

I could just go use a phpbb provider that allows this option. but i love forumotion forums Wink but this is the only bad thing about them.

i assume the reason would be large number of posts

moderators will have to go through each post

its not good for forums with lots of members unless they have moderators who work 24x7

I don't like this idea. It would definitely turn me away from a forum that requires each individual post to be moderated before is seen in the thread.

but then it will give the mods another option, because i have a fully kid forum and DONT want any abuse on the forum at all.

I don't mean to go off-topic, but international internet laws state that to join an online community (ie. a Forum) you must be of 13 years or older.

I like the Idea very much and in Yahoo groups it is very commonly used.

I wish the admins will not ignore a request that is being supported by so many (over 300)

Good day,

That sounds very interesting; on other support forums these suggestions were also being made.

NB: I don't know if it will be accepted, even though the general idea is good.

Best regards.

Well, there are many Pros and Cons to this.

Here are some Pros : The Mods can moderate abusive posts and spam.
The Mods can control posting.

Here are some Cons : Mods have to shuffle though all of the posts.
If there are no Mods available, the Admins will have no choice to do their work -- even though they [ the Admins ] have a bigger responsibility than approving and disproving posts.

Good evening,

Indeed, this propossition will be useless in forums where moderators never show up to check the threads.

NB: In case they do, this option, if weel used, could be a powerful tool to control the quality of messages.

Regards.

1. It would be too hard to keep up with posts

2. My members would get mad and leave

Voted No.

This would completely suck for me. I've got about 400 posts every day and I'm not about to read through all of them and select which ones get posted.
