Removing the create new forum link at bottom of page.

Hi editboard.

i just created a forum from your services.got to say you provide the best and coolest forums.ill be getting members in a few days.
the problem is that since there is a link at the bottom of the page that enable anyone to make their own forum i keep losing members that go and make new forums.then it happens to others also such that evry members start creating their forum. it makes the communities not interesting anymore.

It would have been cool to b able to remove the link at the bottom.only the create my forum link.or even hide it.

Ok, first of all, MOST free forum providers find a way to get more members. It's a fact, face it.
Secondly, even if it was removed, members would see the provider in your forum link eg yourforum.editboard.com
(if such a forum exists it is a coincidence)

Thirdly, in the forums advertising there are links to the editboard homepage and support forums anyway
Fourthly, who even looks at the bottom of the page anyway? The main thing people are looking at is the forum.
Fifthly, why bother? Seriously, it would take too long for the Technicians to get the coding done and plus it would be them loosing buisiness.

For the reasons above, I voted no.

I said no. There's no point - if they really wanted to make a new forum if the link wasn't there, all it would take was going to google and typing "free forum". I agree, there are more things for the technicians to work on.

I agree with shadrm because these days to many forums have a link to their own forum which means it is much faster for the user to create their own forum.
Why cant it look pro by just having the phpbb site at the bottom for once, because the webmaster is already getting paid for the ads that our on the users site so it really dosn't make an advantage putting a link "create a forum".

I vote no. If they like your forum, they WONT go create their own. Many people cannot be BOTHERED to create their own. If they want to make their own forum, they can go ahead. Razz

create my own free forum and © phpbb is nearly the same so i dont see the point having 2 links the same.
