Hey guys
I know that on Vbulletin they have this feature as use of safety that nobody's plotting or doing anything they shouldn't be over pm. As of yet any pm's you get here and on our forums cannot be forwarded and even if they could be, it's very easy for them to be edited before they get forwarded. Having the ability of administrators being able to view everyones pm's would be useful because the users would always get caught out if they were trying to do something. And if a member complained that they were being harrased over pm, the admin could just go into their inbox and see if they're telling the truth.
You get where I'm coming from?

Hello Pogosheep,
It is called "private" messages... Emphasize on private in the two words please...
The members can just take a screen shot to pm the Administrators...
Am sorry, but I like to keep my chats private...
I voted no and this is a really bad idea,

hi
Many self respected Admins would not read their members pm's but you always have the ''control freek'', the'' peeping tom'', the ''curious'' , the ''I am bored I have nothing better to do than reading my members' pms''etc... who would read them [i][b]without having a safety/security/dispute'' reason.
After all, would we like the postman to read our mail before it reaches our door, just in case we were up to no good?
If any member pm the Admin because of a dispute, then the Admin has to be diplomatic enough to solve the problem without resorted snooping in their members' inbox.
The ''forward'' option is useful though , but being able to read the members' posts? no, no. This is taking Big Brother one step too far.
only my 2 cents.

this is not a bad idea, gives admin the real control of his/her board i think.
we know every huge boards have some arguments and different sides on it, and that's the normal thing, it shows board feeds from the real life, cause real life has many different opinions and visions... This is not the problem for checking the pm's.
but when it comes to board security, yes... with no comment founder have to be careful in my opinion.
this option also should be able for moderators so founders can give them new dutys, like checking the bad words on pm's, think that pm is related to board, and board rules...
*if there's a sharing of terms violated things on pms like, porn pictures, like warez, like warez videos anda games,
*if there are bad words and harmful ideas about the board and members
*if some of the using pm for just for spam and advertisement,
*if some of them using pm's for just like "hey want to be my girl, this is my phone number"...
of course founders have to see and checks pm's.
voted yes.

Hello RedSun,
How would you feel that when you register and be a member of a forum, the Administrator can see what you are talking privately with your friend?
Or Typlo,Caihlem or Canceo be able to read what messages you are sending privately to your friends...
Do you want that to happen?
I,would never be a member of a forum if I know someone can read my private messages...It will have to say that the admins can read your private messages in the Terms and Agreements when you register for a forum, and when someone reads that,do you think you will get any members?

lol can everyone stop saying hello and hi to eachother xD

Been suggested and refused. Anything with reading PM's is a NO! You can be suid for reading PM's Also you could just report the message to the Admin/Mod. Thats why their is a quote button.

I vote NO i would not want some one with a big nose looking at what im talking about in my pm this is not what a pm is for, If some one is doing some thing they should not be doing then the member could forword the pm on to the staff and then a mod or admin can warn or ban then for what there doing END OFF SUB
9 Base, on 31/03/2009 at 18h40
Voted no. The whole idea of Private Messaging is that it's meant to be "Private" as some members have stated. Administrators reading them will clearly show invasion of someone's privacy.

this a "Simple ACP PM Read" -Phpbb 3 feature friends.
here's the picture of this mod on phpbb-3;
Seems admin can see all the traffic on pms.
Main refuses comes with a thing like "no, cause they're private".. Of course they're private, but the word "private" have some limits, i mean if it obey the terms and board rules than ok, no problem. But think about a board includes with members sharing some un-terms material and admin even doesn't know what's going on, admin means admin, and founder means founder.
If they have some special rights like changing a user password, edit their profil, or ban them then ok no problem for checking pm traffic for boards security.
A friend says how i feel if here admins read our pms, honostly i don't feel insecure, if its for security, sure they should, no problem, cause i know my pms are nothing against terms and board rules, but if it were...then ok this mod helps to get info about it.
Here is the link again for this mod,
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=570810&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
If it's a bad thing of course official phpbb site doesn't give this mod, but it is not but if forumotion doesn't care about it and says we'll never add this mod to database, well ok, we have to respect it for sure.

Am a fan of private being private - I'm not ddep into the admin on my forum yet, but where I have been on other forums as a member, it was possible to 'block' another member - then they can only harrass you openly - which won't happen - though I saw one case and it was an immature (young) knee jerk reaction.
It's not necessary IMO, lets hope there is a block/ fiend/foe option otherwise I'm changing my vote - jk!
Besides they will want to validate their groan about something(someone) and get it off their chest. They need a zone to go to.

NO NO NO NO!!! Why do you think they are called Private Messages???

16 CloneCharizard, on 02/04/2009 at 18h09
They call it a Private Message for a reason so that it is only viewable for the person who is sending it & the person replying not for an admin to go reading other peoples messages
17 bambiy, on 02/04/2009 at 18h15
PM => PRIVATE MESSAGE => 'PRIVATE LIFE'
okey?

Interestingly - I have a new forum and it I have not yet started mebership while setting up - added an admin member and sent a PM - I can view/archive and delete the PM
This is just so not right.
I'm off to the "No Swears" topic to change my vote to allow swearing.
First things first - talk to help GRRRR!!!
