VIP Membership

I think that we should be able to have certain people who can access certain categories that the administrator can make, "VIP only". This would mean that a person registered on your forum has to pay for access to that categlory or subject. We could have it be optional for the people on your forum to pay for 1 month access, or a year access. This would use PayPal or some other reliable paying service.

Any comments, suggestions, or ideas to improve on this idea?

I advise that you edit the permissions to enter the category, and make it that specific usergroups can enter!

Indeed.

I am not very fond with idea since users are very well capable of creating their own manual 'VIP Members' usergroup when they please to.

Ok, but what if it was a larger scale (over 1,000 members)... Your not going to be doing that for 500 people every month, 6 months, year... See what I'm saying.

And technically forumotion is not free for some since some of us are going to be buying the domain (from them) and purchasing more space (from them) and getting rid of the ads (by buying from them)...

The people who voted "no" either are thinking on too small of a scale OR don't understand that I along with others want to make money from it. There are hundreds of forums on there that I seen that charge members for certain areas every month and so on. They also have 500+ members buying this privilege. This is what I want to do...

Im just saying. I can understand if I only had like 100 members or so and only 10-20 wanted to buy a "VIP" type thing. But I plan on having alot more members then that. Im going to buy advertisements on google along with other various sites and I want to get my money back plus more.

You can make a usergroup called "VIP" and make some forums for the VIP's and in the permissions make it so that only the VIP peeps can see it.
That simple, and perhaps they can try donating to the site for paying for VIP, or simply you can charge points to take them off at the points widgests.

Ffs. You people are obviously not understanding. If I have say 2k+ members (2,000... Just to make sure were on the same page) and half of them purchased this VIP status, I'm not going to go in the admin panel and make each and every one of them a VIP... That's way too time consuming. Do you understand now?...

I wouldn't go for it. The ecnomy is in a bad state, and as Blinding Angel stated, it is bad o pay money for a restricted area of a free forum. You could do what COR3 suggested and not make it money, just kindness, helping others out, etc. will get that person in VIP Access.

1. Special sections for VIP members that others cant see

2.Special search

3.special forum status

4.see the forum online when others cant see it

5.take 500 PP for the shop and every month 100PP

6.discount -20% for our shop

7.bigger avatar

8.extra privileges for the gallery of our forum(your own category,etc)
