The first one.

Okay thanks. I will complete your review either by the end of today or later on tomorrow. If you are unsure about my reviewing skills, you can always scroll through the reviews I have accomplished to be understand how I review.

Okay, that's good.

I was just thinking to myself that the template you wanted me to use for your forum was a little bit crappy, and if I would try fixing it, then much time would be revoked from getting your review. Is it okay if I can use the other template I provided?
6 Rideem3, on 14/05/2009 at 00h30
Yes, it is.

Generalities

  1. First Impressions (Score: 3/10):
When I took my first steps into your forum, I thought your forum wasn't that good at all because there are many things wrong with it. You have a pretty sloppy background and layout, a huge banner, some pixelated icons, very small forum width, and several other mistakes. Those other mistakes will be pointed out within this review as well as some much-needed information.
  2. Index Appearance (Score: 3/10):
I have to be very true about your index- it's not very nice at all. As I just stated previously: your layout and background is a little too crappy, your banner is too tall and fat, and your categories and forums template width is outrageously small. This is not a very good sign for your forum. I highly advise that you try changing around things and making your forum look a bit more professional than what it is right now; try resizing the banner to around the same width (but a bit less wider) as the support forum's banner.
  3. Forum Layout & Color Scheme (Score: 5/10):
Again, I am sorry to say this but your layout isn't all that great in my opinion. Your forum's background is an image that keeps repeating itself over and over. That just makes your forum look a bit crappy and unprofessional. I recommend that you try getting another background that has some kind of nice design or relates to your forum's general topic (which is 'Millsberry'.) However, dark themes are only useful on gaming/miscellaneous forums like yours, and that's what most reviewers are looking for sometimes when they are reviewing gaming/miscellaneous forums. I highly recommend that you should change your background immediately because it's not very appealing at all.
  4. Categories & Forums (Score: 3/10):
You have a nice arrangement of categories and forums, but there are a few things that you should try fixing. Your 'Forum Help' category (at the top of your forum) should is holding only one discussion forum when there are a few other disuccusion forums that are able to be attached to the category. I suggest that you change the name of your 'Forum Help' category to something like 'Announcements', and then attach the discussion forums 'Help and Support', 'Millsberry Chapters Rules', and 'Forum Request Topic' to the 'Announcements' category. Another recommendation would be that you change the 'Forum Request Topic' discussion forum to 'Suggestions' as they both relate to suggestions for your forum. Also, there are several discussion forums that aren't even needed in your forum like 'Picture Games', 'Any Donations?', and 'Banned Users.' All three of those discussion forums should be threads instead of forums; and having those as forums is just lowering your amount of space on your forum index. I suggest that you try switching/changing things around with your categories and forums; and also try accomplishing the suggestions stated in this section of your review. Overall, you do have a nice amount of categories and forums, but they aren't very much arranged quite professionally.

Forum Style

  1. Banner & Navigation Bar (Score: 7/10):
    Banner (2/5)
I mentioned before that your banner was too tall. It's also a bit small in width as well. You don't really have to change your banner, but just try resizing it by making it less taller in height and more wider in width. Another thing that is wrong with your banner is the fact that it is saved as .jpg format. Before adding any images on your forum like, banners, icons, etc., be sure you save them in .png format; unless it's a .gif image. Nevertheless, it is a very nice banner despite the height, width, and saved format.
    Navigation Bar (5/5)
You have a very nice navigation button set. It fits the layout of the forum, and it has very nice icons attached to each button. From my perspective, it is a pretty great navigation bar and is definitely great quality for any dark-themed forums, especially like yours.
  2. Images & Icons (Score: 3/10):
There's nothing much to say about your icons because there are no forum icons and your topic icons are default phpBB. But, you do have a light set of icons on a dark theme, and that is not a very good thing for dark-themed forums. I suggest you try creating your own/finding some great icons to add to your forum that fit the dark theme and your forum's general topic (Millsberry.)

Forum Moderation & Groups

  1. Staff Population (Score: 9/10):
    Administration- 1 member(s)
In total you only have 1 administrator, and that is yourself. Due to the inactivity of most of your members on your forum, you have about 15 active members, so with you administrating that amount, there is nothing wrong at all. Just be sure to add at least one more administrator once your forum reaches to a standard of about 135 members or so.
    Moderation- 3 member(s)
In total you have 3 members in your mdoeration groups, including both your 'Super Moderators' group and 'Mini-Moderators' group. For a forum around your member ratio and activity, it's good to not over-populate or under-populate the moderators, but to leave the amount of moderation to a range of 3-5 moderators. Your forum moderation is right on target, and it's very good that you kept your mdoeration that way. Overall, be sure to add at least 2 more moderators once your forum reached around 150 members.
  2. Staff/User Groups (Score: 8/10):
In total you have 5 usergroups: 3 staff groups and 2 miscellaneous groups. You have the average amount of groups that a normal forum should have, but I don't think that the 'Mini-Moderators' group isn't really needed. I suggest that you should probably remove that group and probably change 'Super Moderators' to 'Moderators'; and then you can transfer all of your current moderation to that one Moderators group.
As for the miscellaneous usergroups you have, there's nothing actually wrong, but if I were you, I would probably make a usergroup relating to 'Millsberry.' Overally, great job on your usergroups, and be sure to take some of this information into acknowledgement and consideration.

Usergroup total: 17/20

Forum Activity

  1. Post/Member Ratio (Score: 8/10):
You have exactly 82 members and approximately 2168 messages on your forum. This means that at least each member has made roughly around 25 or 26 messages a piece. Considering that the average amount of posts a user makes after joining a forum and before leaving the forum is approximately 5 or 10 messages, your members have done a good job with the post ratio. However, most of the users on your forum are very inactive, and I would highly suggest you try to bring them back to activity and keep them posting and lifting up your total messages ratio.
  2. Member Activity (Score: 2/10):
Well, you have at least 15 active users on your forum from the looks of the members connected to your forum during the last 99 hours. Most of your members aren't very active and probably haven't even made one post since they registered on your forum. I definitely recommend that you advertise your forum, promote your forum, send emails to all of your inactive members on your forum, etc. to keep activity flowing throughout your forum. Without members, messages, and activity on your forum, your forum would just 'die' from lack of inactivity.

Activity total: 10/20

Overall Mark: 51/100

Conclusion

What could be done to improve your forum:
If you want your forum to become a whole lot better in standards and popularity, I suggest you change to a new theme, fix most of the things stated in this review, and also try bringing back all of your members or just promote and advertise to get newer members to register on your forum and start posting.

The best thing I like about your forum:
I like how you kept to a dark theme with your forum being in the gaming/miscellaneous genre.

Best of luck to you and your forum.
