Name of the Forum: Pug Authority
Address: www.pugauthority.com
Suggestions?: Open to any and all suggestions. Full review please.
Other: This is my first forum and I've taken alot of time to (hopefully) make it "clean" and easy to navigate but I'd like feedback from those much more experienced than myself.

I will add an account for a reviewer. How do I pass along the log-in info?

Thanks!

I am terribly sorry for the delay, but I have been awefully busy with many things. Is it okay if I can start on your review tomorrow when I'm not busy? I'm terribly sorry again for this setback.
Also, you you please PM me your reviewer account for your forum?

Not sure if we're "allowed" to do this but just wanted to check on the status before it disappears to page 2. Thought it would be done yesterday. Thanks!

Again, I'm still sick and busy with exams. Tomorrow, I will be relieved with all testing, and then I'll complete your review.
I usually never leave a request behind, and sorry for that. Your review will be completed tomorrow after exams. Sorry again, and I'll get it completed by tomorrow.

Your Forum Review
'Pug Authority Forum'

Generalities

  1. First Impressions (Score: 8/10):
My first steps into your forum were pretty nice. You have a great banner, a nice layout and background, and nice arrangement of categories and forums. Everything fit into the theme perfectly. You ahd some nice icons, great member activity, and a splendid general topic of the forum. However, your layout is pretty nice, but it just seems dull to me. I did say your icons were nice, but they are a little too big (more than 48x48.) There are also some more flaws I see in your forum, but they will be discussed further on in this review. My first impressions were great, and they got even better when I viewed the active users during the past 8 hours.
  2. Index Appearance (Score: 8/10):
Your index is very nice; you don't have tons of things clogged up in your homepage message (like what most forums do.) You have a nice amount of categories and forums, but there is a few mistakes in them as well; and those mistakes will be discussed in the selected section of this review. You have a great layout for a forum with a general topic based on 'dogs', but I also said that it was dull as well. Nice icons and banner you have, but there is also a mistake with the icons that I will discuss soon. Overall, your forum's index is very nice and planned out well. Everything fits witht he whole 'dog' general topic, including theb background, layout, icons, banner, forums, etc.
  3. Forum Layout & Color Scheme (Score: 7/10):
As I stated before, your layout is nice, but there is just one thing that I don't like about it- it's just plain tan-colored. Your forums is about dogs (specifically pugs, but yeah), right? Well, why not you get a light-colored background with a few pawprints over the layout. Be original; the layout you have now is just ugly and not good from my perspective, sorry. You have a nice background, but the whole image repeats itself. To understand what I'm talking about, keep scrolling down your forum's index whilst glaring at the background. You can see that the background cuts off and then repeats itself. Backgrounds like these are not great for forums- they just make forums look sloppy and unprofessional, and they are usually found in Myspace profiles (not forums.) I recommend you consider thinking over this section, because you do have an alright layout and nice background, but there are two big major flaws that can be seen easily.
  4. Categories & Forums (Score: 7/10):
I said previously that you have a nice arrangement of categories and forums; and that's true, but there is just one major problem. Some of your discussion forums have descriptions and other don't. This makes your forum unbalanced and shows the unprofessional side of your forum. I highly suggest you try adding some descriptions to each and every disucussion forum in your forum. Plus, you have some misusage of grammar in a few descriptions- some of the discussion forums that actually have descriptions lack well grammar and punctuation. Two of the descriptions have no period at the end of them, and one of the descriptions is just plain italic while the other descriptions are normal text. I suggest you keep all of the descriptions balanced alongside each other and try not to make any different unless necessary, and have descriptions in each of your discussion forums.

Forum Style

  1. Banner & Navigation Bar (Score: 8/10):
    Banner
Very nice banner you have for your forum. It fits perfect with the layout theme and the general topic of the forum. Plus, your forum is about pugs,a nd you actually have a pug in your banner. Some users just go off and add some nice design and say it fits their forum. You actually have the banner related directly to your forum, and that's a great thing. Splendid job on your banner.
    Navigation Bar
Well, from what I understand, your navigation bar buttons seem to be default on a Hitskin theme. You have your own original icons, but not an original navigation bar. I recommend that you try being creative and make a navigation bar that actually fits with your forum. Add some pawprints or pugs on some of the navigation bar buttons. It doesn't matter as long as you keep the originality flowing.
  2. Images & Icons (Score: 10/10):
I stated before that it's very great that you were original and actually have icons that relate to your forum's general topic: pugs. Great work on the icons and originality. Keep up the whole originality concept, and your forum will become even more professional.

Forum Moderation & Groups

  1. Staff Population (Score: 9/10):
I am not capable of viewing all of the users in your staff, but I do see that you have about 3 active moderators on your forum. That's a pretty great amount for a forum with approximately 100 members. I recommend that you stay with this amount of staff until you hit a standard of about 150-170 members; then you can add one or two more moderators to your forum and possibly another administrator. Good work on the population overall for Moderation.
Your adminsitration? All I can say is that I can see it's just hidden and I don't have access to view it. But, I am 100% definite you have at least one administrator which is you. If it's just you as administration, then I have to say that you are doing a great job, and it's recommended to have at east 1 adminsitrator on your forum with 1- 100 members. However, I will have to deduct at least 1 point since I have no concern on the population of all of your staff.
  2. Staff/User Groups (Score: 8/10):
From what I understand, you only have administration and moderation groups. It's great that you kept low throughout your forum's growth, but all users start their forums more original sometimes by creating groups that relate to their forum's general topic. I have to say that you should at least make one miscellaneous group relating to your forum- something like 'Pug Expert', 'Vetenarian', etc.

Forum Activity

  1. Post/Member Ratio (Score: 10/10):
I was impressed when I viewed your forum's active users during the past 8 hours. It's splendid that you have 91 members, and at least 35 members active furing the past 8 hours. There's no telling how many users have been active during the past 48 hours... probably around 75% of your whole forum's member ratio.
You also have 91 registered users and 4951 messages in total on your forum. Wow, that's about 55 posts per member. The average amount of messages a user makes before leaving the forum is about 5-10 messages. Your members have done an absolutely amazing job with the messages ratio. You have great popularity and activity flowing throughout your forum. All I have to say for this criteria is that your forum is definitely a success and will continue to be one throughout it's lifespan. Congratulations; there is obviously no points deducted from this section of the review.

Again, your members are very active in your forum. Yeah, you probably have around 15-20 members who aren't active, but still, 55 messages per member is just amazing. Excellent work!

Conclusion

What could be done to improve your forum:
What you need to work mostly on is your forum's layout and the discussion forums' descriptions. Review over what I stated about both of those, and you try your best to achieve the goal that has been set out.

The best thing I like about your forum:
The best things I like about your forum is the originality you have based around your forum and your member activity. You definitely deserve a high-five for achieving such a high standard in an average forum.
So far, your forum has the best rating out of ALL of the forums I have ever reviewed. Your forum is just wonderful and very active/improving. You have accomplished an amazing task!

Best of luck to you and your forum.
