You know with the new point system I think it'll be nice to have a widget option to go with that
u know like the top 10 users with points
kinda like the top posters widget but only with points...
my reasons:
1. Top posters is nice but it doesn't always determine the user's activity... for instance a user could post up 500 posts.... then leave.. the new and most active members whom were even more helpful to the site deserve something aswell
2. It's more fair.... well say a user made 1000 replies to topics.... and another user made 300 topics.... well in my opinion a topic is more useful and takes more time to make then a reply... users who just reply with an "I agree with him" or "thanks" are increasing their post count for nothing which I don't think is fair... a user who began a topic deserves more praise than a user who replied to the topic...
3. Controllable... points are more controllable than posts.... u can give points to users who invite other users but u can't give them posts xD or if they won a competition on the forum etc. etc. etc.... the widget after then could be renamed "the most active users" rather than just the top posters...
4. Includes everything... well u DO get points when u post so it also takes the number of posts into account
5. More viewable = more praise.... if u agreed with the points above here's the last; I know everyone can "see" the number of points next to a user's profile/ post.. but so can they see the number of posts the user made xP a person feels more praise when his name is on a widget available for everyone to see... it also encourages other ppl to be "ACTIVE" in the forum instead of just encourage them to post more which could result in spam...

and finally it makes the user more aware and more considerate to the point system

Posts and Points are 1 concept... they are there to measure a user's activity... but IMO points are more accurate for my first post's reasons...

This seems like a good idea...
Voted=> Yes, it should be a widget, for the reason that it shows who is most active, but then again it could start flame wars about who has the most points...but then again you can always look in there profile...So i'm votiong yes, addd this as a widget.

I voted no.

There's already a widget for the portal that allows you to see a table of the top posters. My forum's portal has a Top 10 list.

When it comes to these kinds of things, you have to consider the most important things first, not the pointless and unnecessary ones.

dude that's the whole point of it
I think that points are more precise than posts to judge a user's activity in a forum
for the reasons I stated in my first post xD
I know it's long, and some of u won't be bothered to read it but do it before u vote cause every vote counts Razz

For instance... points are more controllable, u can award them for other site activities (u can't really award posts), posts are kinda biased since a user that replied with a "yes" or a "welcome" gets just as much credit as a user who started a topic.... which I do not think is fair....

I think that there is nothing wrong with this, and if some Users really want to display the Points, then I think it is a great idea. If you want to, you can activate it then,
