What I have saw on others forum is that you can hide the widgets with clicking just a small arrow in the corner of them , I think this would be very useful as there are people that like the widgets and people that hate them , what do you say?

that way also the original width of the forum would come back...
and maybe ppl with lower resolution (not me
) would really appreciate it
though i wonder if it would just grow again after browsing through the forum or just refreshing

This here is a good idea. Also, instead of the Admin controlling the widgets, maybe have one or two admin widgets you can make mandatory and let each user choose the others they want.
