To get members you need to be reading up on how to get bots to increase your search engine ratings amongst other things. I am sure other members can give you better advice as to how you can get your forum noticed.
However inviting complete strangers to become moderators on your forum is asking for trouble big style. You do not need moderators until your forum becomes busy. If & when it does, you can chose them from your members, judging by the content of their posts & the respect they show for other other members & their computer literacy.
Your post could be used as an example of how NOT to start a forum. I know you are excited at having set up your first forum & sorry for being harsh but I just wanted to warn you.

Sorry ForumCommando I can't, I cheated. 
Mine is a local town forum and there was a very busy & successful one running previously, all coded by the admin himself. The admin decided he had had enough & took it down, so we made our forumotion one as a replacement & the old admin put a redirect from his closed forum onto us, so I have no idea how you start from scratch.
Can't you get your friends to join initially? I have been trying to do a search on here for you to find out how you attract members but haven't found anything yet. No one likes to go first anyway, don't go overboard but you could start a few topics & introduce yourself to start with.
It's a nice looking forum BTW.

The reason forums obtain so many users in one day is because they've previously owned a site that was popular, or they are staff of a major corporation.
