Generalities


  1. First Impressions (Score: 13/20):
    The first thing i see when i enter your forum is the portal, which seems well arranged and thought out, i notied that all your widgets are white except for one which is yellow, seems a bit out of place. You have many custom widgets and pictures on your portal and shows that you have taken the time to add some custom widgets to improve the appearence of your forum, one thing i have noticed ia that some of your widgets are not centered, really if i were you, i would think about centering that watch by putting <center> at the start of the code and </center> at the end, it would make your portal look more organised to guests and your members. I also noticed the navigation bar when i entered as its very detailed and a nice text font, plus your banner is good too. Good first impressions on the portal! When i entered the forum, i noticed you have the background then another background just at the side of the main forum, this doesn't give a good impression and makes your forum look crowded, not very good for a first impression. Your index seems a good length although too thin and your forums all have there own description and a picture to describe them. You have your widgets down one side only which helps the organisation plus you have the moderators displayed for each forum, the moderators display doesnt help with the apper=arence as it just makes it look disorganised, i would siggest hidding the moderators display. So overall good first impressions but there are a few things you could work on.

  2. Categories & Forums (Score: 5/10):
    You have 9 categoeries which is too many, you should have a maximum of 6, 9 is just excessive and you shouldn't need that many. To reduce that categoeries you could try combining them, if 2 categoeries have similar purposes or have only 1 or 2 forums on them each, you could combine them and change the categoery name to cover all the forums that they contain, having too many categoeries makes your forum look crowded. You have 33 forums split into those 9 categoeries and 4 of the categoeries have an even amount of forums (between 6 & 7) but the other 5 of your forums have only 1 or 2 forums in them which is too little, you should have atleast 3 forums per categoery, You could try combining your categoeries so that they have more forums in them as a suggestion you could combine the entertainment section and the request section together and move all the forums that they contain into 1 categoery which you could call entertainment & requests, get the idea? this way you will have an even amount of forums in each categoery which will keep the forum organised and not crowded. So you need to organise your forums more to improve on the appearence of your forum and to make it more proffesional.

Forum Style



  1. Major Graphics (Score: 9/10):

    Banner: (5/5)
    Your banner is very well designed, the factory building matches with the parrterns around the outside of it in colour and the whole banner is highly detailed, you can see the feathers on the birds its that detailed. The grey text is nice and bold with the black outline and it gives it a 3D effect. The text colour matches the factories colour and the grey colour scheme of your banner matches the rest of the forum including the navigation bar. The black text underneath is good butit doesn't really look as graphical as the rest of the banner so mabye you should think about making the font of the text more exciting. Your banner is great! good work on it.
    Navigation Bar: (4/5)
    Your navigation bar is quite complex but the text has a great font, the white colour of the text stands out against the grey background of the navigation bar plus the patterns at certain parts of the navigation bar add a good effect. The navigation bar has a good shiny effect and the text is great and readable although i have noticed an issue with the login button, it is not correct, the darker grey background part is too high and doesn't fit in with the rest of the navigation abr, this is making it look tacky and it really needs to be sorted out. Other than that your navigation bar is clear to see and well designed, the only issue being the out of place login button!

  2. Images & Icons (Score: 7/10):
    Your forum icons are very nice, you have a full folder for "new posts" an empty folder for "no new posts" and a folder with a cross in the bottom right corner for the "forum locked" icon. These are all easy to understand what they mean as they are a very simple but effective way of doing what they are ment for, to inform members whether a forum has a new post or not! Your topic icons are again folders but they have different ways of displaying a ne wpost and no new posts, this time there is a star infront of the folder for a new post and nothing for no new posts, really this would be more effective if you'd of made the folder full for new posts and empty for no new posts as the star is not easy to see. other than that the rest fo the icons are good and the announcement and sticky icons are great with the microphone and the pin, these really stand out and are well designed, you just need to make the folder full for new posts to make the icons more sensible.

  3. Forum Layout & Color Scheme (Score: 7/10):
    Your categoeries and forums as ive said before aren't very well organised as they seem to each have a different amount of sub-forums, you need to ahve an even amount of sub-forums for each categoery to improve you're forums layout. Your portal seems well layed out with the most important topics in the middle and the smaller widgets either sid eof them, also you clock is good at the top of the portal as it is clear to see when you enter the portal so you don't have to scroll down to see it, your portal seems well layed out but your forum needs a bit of work although the forum widgets are in a good place. Your colour scheme seems to be quite consistant as your banner, navigation bar and categoery pictures seem to match the grey and white colour scheme, the one thing that doesn't seem to match though is th forum icons which are a totally different colour, you could think about making some new ones that match your forums colour scheme more but the ones you have at the moment are ok and they serve there purpose. The blue text colour of the forum names really doesn't fit your theme and i would suggest you should change the text colour to something darker like grey or black to match the rest of your forum. Your colour scheme is ok although there are some aspects that don't fit in with it and they need to be sorted out.

Usergroups



  1. Population of Groups (Score: 4/10):
    You have 6 groups, this is a good amount to have although really you should only need 5. You have 5 administrators which is too many, you should only need 2 considering your forums activity rate, you shouldnt need 5 administrators to run your forum as 2 adminstrators should be able to cope, as thats what your moderators are for, to help you with the forum! You have 5 super moderators and 4 moderators which gives you a total of 9 moderators which again is way too many! You should only need around 5 moderators to help you run the forum as its not very active, infact you would need a very very active forum to need that many moderators! You have 5 uploaders which i don't know what there purpose is for but what i do know is that you should have only a maxiumum of 3 members in any staff group, 5 is too amny as 3 should always be able to cope. Really you just have too many satff and you need to demote your less active staff. One thing ive noticed is that you have a group called users which has no members in so really if your not using it, you shouldn't have it! i siggest scrapping that group as it has no pupose.

  2. Staff Groups / User Groups (Score: 8/10):
    You have 4 staff groups which seem to all be used and needed which is a good amount and you shouldn't ever need more and you have 2 usergroups of which you have 3 v.i.p's so that group is used and is needed but then you have the group called users which seems to have no purpose or members so that needs deleting, other than that your groups seem fine and you have a good amount of them!

    Our users have posted a total of 7710 messages
    We have 404 registered users


    You have 7710 messages and 404 registered users, the amount of messages is a bit small as if you divide the messages out into posts per user you get only 19 posts per user and really this should be around 30 posts per user or 12120 messages posted overall. You really need to get your members to post more as there is just not enough posting activity in your forum which is making it seem less active and is slowly becoming less active until you get your members to start to post!

You should try and get some of your old members back by sending out weekly newsletters which tell them about the latest competitions/updates to the forum aswell as sending a message to all your inactive users through an email telling them to come back as they are missing the fun. You could also advertise your forum to get some new members in that might improve your forums activity.
