Allow members to generate an invitation code they could send to the people they wish to invite to register in the fórum.
Then Admin would have the choice to allow new sign ups through only this way or both this way and direct/normal registration.

I suppose an invitation system might be useful. I don't think I would use it if that was the only way people could register, but I think giving the users the option to send invitations would be cool.

Would the code be for text or could it have a picture or banner in it too? Cause I would like a banner invite

I think this option would spores piracy on some forums 
Many administrators will block access to the forum, and everything would be based on invitations! Also many will ask for money on those invitations . Because of this my vote is NO
