A forum I visit often has this feature and I think it is very useful. Basically, there is a section after the 1st post, that everyone can add things to (or edit). So, if you had a list of codes you wanted to give out for something, you could post about the codes in the 1st post, then post the list of codes in the community editable section and people could go in and do this to the codes once they've used them. Or, if you are building a list of items, people could add items to that list, which would keep everything together in one section. Here is an example of the section:

It's not great, but it was fun to write. The point was for the majority of the poem to hold myself to a rather strict rhyme scheme/cadence. This poem is dedicated to those girls.
