As every other board has registration options that only allow alphanumeric characters (letters and numbers), ForuMotion should have that ability as well.

Some reasons why an alphanumeric restriction option is beneficial:
- Makes your forum look cleaner without unusual characters in usernames (i.e: "<" "-" "º" etc)
- Harder to impersonate/confuse usernames (i.e: AMIDEADYET --> AM I DEAD YET--> AMIDEAD YET)
Some reasons why an alphanumeric restriction option is counter effective:
- Less variety of usernames
However this is only an option via admin panel and i am not suggesting forumotion go and convert to alphanumeric characters.

I really don't care. A lot of people like special characters in their names, so no.

Personally what really gets to me is the spacing, which if used inappropriately causes a clutter of similar names.

Some people want fancy names, let them have it
If a name's non-acceptable, you can always contact them asking for them to submit a new name. For example, there were a few cases of members on this forum with words that could offence younger public, after an Admin contacted them, the name was changed and the cases solved silently and efficiently.

If this were an optional feature, then perhaps yes. How are you suggesting this, as a permanent feature or an optional feature?

Maybe if it was optional, but I don't find it necessary.

I am suggesting this as an option (as stated in the last sentence) because i understand some forums need more accessibility, but some want more organization.

I'm going to vote no...

It could always just be enforced as a rule, and if a member uses unusual characters, you can contact them and ask them to change it.AmIDEADYet wrote:I am suggesting this as an option (as stated in the last sentence) because i understand some forums need more accessibility, but some want more organization.

Yes I do take these things into account when i make suggestions, and such a feature can't hurt anyone, and would be beneficial to forums that really need/want it.

Voting no. If a member wants a cool, fancy name, then let it be. It won't hurt anyone. You could lose members with this feature.
