We have the reputation system which is fine, however we cant really modify it at all. I use phpBB 3 and I cant do nothing with it but change the bar image that appears when you give the post a positive or negative rep. Also we have no visual counter to show how many people repped the post. So here is where my suggestion comes in:

- Add a thumbs up & thumbs down icon near the top corner of the post where the rep system is.
- Add a counter to see how many people voted thumbs up or thumbs down.
- Add a statistic profile field that tells us how many likes and dislikes this user has received.
- Here is an example image:

what a great idea...
But i think it's better if that feature is optional...
I mean, the Thread Starters will have the checkbox button to choose whether to use this feature or not in their topic before they can submit the post...
because not all Thread/Comments need this feature.. I think it will be bad if a forum has a lot of buttons inside it... The members will got confused of their functions and makes them to dislike the forum...
IMHO, the Like/Dislike system like u mentioned is similar to the Poll feature...
CMIIW...

As I mentioned in the OP, this feature can be enabled or disabled in the ACP, so it's optional. Your idea to further grant permission of members by allowing the topic starter to enable/disable this feature for a particular topic is a good addition to the original suggestion of this thread.
IMHO I don't see how members can get confused by the simplicity of this feature.. Especially when this feature is being implemented throughout the entire internet making it more known and common amongst forums & blogs.
Similar to the poll feature but not the same. The poll system is only used for a specific topics of interest to allow members to vote on a idea or vote for statistic purposes. This feature I suggested is simply there for members to like or dislike an individuals post. As seen on multiple forums, facebook, youtube, etc.. There is a difference, I'm sure you understand.

Voted yes, it's an interesting suggestion. As long as you can disable the feature and edit the images.

Thanks. Yes, you can edit the image from your ACP > Display > Pics Management > Advanced Mode > Buttons |
The preset images can consist of the same image forumotion will provide but in various color schemes to blend in with your forum appropriately. Would be nice to have a check off box giving the option to enable/disable the counter as well.

Hello all!
I have a group of users on my forum that would like me to add like/dislike buttons to forum posts. These buttons would be much like the YouTube like/dislike buttons. How do I do this? If you need me to elaborate, please say so, and I will.
