Facebook connect optimization!

Dear users,

In continuation of our efforts to offer intuitive, secure and cutting edge technology, we performed an optimization for option "Facebook Connect". That, in order to improve the functioning and security of your forums.

Now a new field in connection with this application and called "Secret Key" made its appearance in your admin panel> Modules>> Facebook Connect

If you are an administrator of the forum, two cases:

1. You have activated the system "Facebook Connect" on your forum: In this case, to retrieve your secret key, simply log on the facebook account with which you created the application and then go to the page " My Applications "and copy / paste the secret key corresponding to the application facebook connect you created for your forum.

2. You never activated the system "Facebook Connect" on your forum: in this case is very simple. The secret key is provided immediately after creating the application.

Note that in order to take advantage of this optimization, admins that have changed the template index_body must take into account the change below:

Replace :

Code:: onlogin=facebook_login()'

by :

Code:: onlogin=window.location='/facebook_connect.forum'

Sorry for the double post, but I've just installed it and see no significant changes. What does this update actually improve? Security? How?

It's an optimization for your security, you won't see any visible change.

As I'm no technician, I won't go into any technical details.

Well, appereantely there was a change made to the Open Graph and PHP SDK code Forumotion uses to connect to Facebook. Turns out if was possible to get into someone's account if someone (let's call him an 'expert', actually) knew how to; still, the platform is really secure.

Now with the secret API key, which by the way only YOU founder/admins should know, that's history. Unless they do get to know it (the only way would be giving it to them), the platform is safe and secure.

Now really an expert on Open Graph and SDK, so if someone who knows about it has a better explanation we'll be happy to hear. Very Happy

sorry do you have the idiots guide to doing this ?

i have gone into admin panel > modules > facebook config

done everything is has asked me to do.

Now where i'm lost is the bloody codes how do i change them ???

has the code after I applied the secret code but it looks like below and does not work.....

Note the difference in quotations marks.

I tried both ways and neither worked!

haha... i've created the 'my app...' but when i submit it, this sentence came out...
You need to have at least 10 monthly active users before you can submit your application.

This means that you can not submit it to their directory until you meet their requirements. You can use the app without submitting it.

I did all of this - one thing - I put the code they gave me in a widget - where it looks great and members love it, but the lettering is flowing outside the table of the widget.

What can I do?
