Favicons can be created. It's not hard, but for them to be viewable in all browsers they should be created in .ico format.
I will see what I can come up with. On a little side note, adding text to any image that's only 16x16 is a bit hard to do. Usually the text will not show up and look right.

They will not allow .ico format.

. Notice how the font can't be seen? This is because the image is too small.
I know these may not work for you but I gave it a shot.
