Help! 6 Month Inactive Forum!

Hi, I don't know if this is possible or allowed, but I'll explain my question in full detail before asking the question.

Anyway our forum and members originated from an older forum not of Forumotion. None of us current members owned it, but it was hit hard by some kind of redirecting link, which directed to male medicine. I won't get into detail, but the forum was completely trashed.

Those of us who could still stay in contact did and moved over to several different forums, one being in a FanFiction.Net forum (which wasn't very liked) until we came to create a forum from Forumotion.

Our original admin became inactive after he made our first forum. He appointed none of us admin or moderator statuses. Afraid that something may happen eventually and without any of us with power, I created another forum for us to move to.

That was like three years ago or something. Anyway this previous admin of ours came back eventually to our newer forum. We asked him to take down our older Forumotion site, which he never got around to and eventually went MIA again.

He was never around for the old site either and it was just now that I learned that we could had filed a complaint about inactivity of Admins after a six month period. It's too late for that now as we've made another forum.

The problem though is that this older site is completely dead and inactive, but our newer version is not. This becomes a problem as Google and other search engine searches detect the older site before our newer one.

I've counteracted that by posting a "We have moved" kind of thread in every category on the older site, but that's somewhat inconvenient for us and guests/members. By the time they get to the first forum, they probably won't even want to bother hopping by to our current forum.

Thank you for any information and I apologize if this sort of thing isn't allowed. I did do some searching, but couldn't find much regarding our exact situation.)

If you have admin power in the old forum make a category or forum called "<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=http://www.yourlinkhere.com">" and replace yourlinkhere with the new forums link, it will redirect them to the new forum without the "'s but make sure html is enabled on the site.

That sounds like a great fix, but if none of us current members are of Admin/Moderator status on the older forum is it possible?

Our Admin became inactive over there, but after we moved he registered over at our newer forum. We politely asked him to take the old one down, but he never got around to doing it.

I'll just add it here in case someone new to the thread didn't read or missed something in the first post. The reason why we want it down or name changed is because the two forums are very similar in title description. His is dead, because none of us are over there.

Unfortunately we've had people register over there. We tried to mend that situation by PMing them that we had moved and by posting a "Moved" thread in every section. But that still is not a perfect and or acceptable way to fix the situation for our potential members.

Thank you for your advice and help!

http://bazais.site-forums.com/ < That's the link to our old forum. It's been inactive for years. The only one to log in recently was me and that was way back in mid 2010. So it's basically been about 10 months. I hear that after 6 months of inactivity, forums are taken down, but how does that happen?

So is this sort of situation not possible to do? Been about four days or so without much replies/answers.

The problem with our old site is that it's dead and our old admin (of that site) is no longer with us. None of us are admins/moderators on that site.

It's been stealing a lot of potential members, who end up registering on a dead forum. It's been dead for more than three years. I really want to know what I can do to mend this situation.

It's been about four days without a reply. Did I put this in the wrong section?

I feel like I am just talking to myself with all these (legally double posted) posts. I really need help with this. Please, could someone guide me in the right direction.

I mean even a yes or no would suffice. If this is possible or not.

I have PM'ed you.
6 Lee Tamotsu, on 05/07/2011 at 22h41
Thank you Sanket. So I assume that I just need to wait now? Nothing else to do on my part, correct?
7 Sanket, on 06/07/2011 at 07h33
Yes, we need to wait. Smile

Not to be rude or bump this topic or anything, but how long does it normally take to receive a message or notification of some sort.

Or am I to assume that if I don't receive any kind of reply it's because those in charge read the messages and deemed them unnecessary to look into?

Once again I'm not trying to be pushy, I just want a clear understanding of the process and how things go...thanks in advance for any reply!

Not to be pesky Sanket (or anyone else that can answer this question) but is there a certain time limit I'm supposed to wait until deeming that this problem has been forgotten, overlooked, or something?

Like if one doesn't get a response within two weeks or so, are they supposed/allowed to send in another PM regarding the situation or something?
10 Sanket, on 17/07/2011 at 16h52
If we don't get a reply within a week, then i will reforward it again. Please be patient till then. Smile

Roger that, I just wanted to make sure what kind of details/operations took place after whatever extended period of time.

Thank you, by the way!
12 Sanket, on 18/07/2011 at 08h18
Means, what operations?
13 Lee Tamotsu, on 18/07/2011 at 13h14
Um, I had a brain-fart with what words best suited my reply...sorry.

Anyway I was just saying that I wanted to know what was done after an extended period of time. Say like if it's what you said and wait another extended amount of time to forward another message.

Or after an extended period of time, if it is not replied into, it's not because no one looked into it, but just that nothing could be done about the problem.

That's all I really meant, sorry for the misunderstanding.

You can PM me then, i will forward it to The Godfather then,
15 Lee Tamotsu, on 18/07/2011 at 22h42
Alrighty then, thank you! Checking the post and PM dates, it will be two weeks on Wednesday.

It's every two weeks when you are supposed/allowed to send in another message correct? So I will wait until then.
16 Sanket, on 19/07/2011 at 05h58
Its not generally a 2 weeks thing. But, with the way things have been functioning lately, i have given you a higher ETA.
17 Lee Tamotsu, on 21/07/2011 at 14h39
Thank you, I have sent you a PM about the problem. If there is not enough information provided or something, let me know, and once again thanks for taking your time!

Thanks a ton Sanket and Godfather, you really helped me out a lot. I wasn't sure how to deal with this problem at first, glad that there was a solution. We are also getting a lot more visits on our forum now, so all is good.

We have a need to compare monthly transaction amounts that are associated with 15 month fiscal years. A fiscal year 2009-10 would span July 2009 thru September 2010. But there can be transaction amounts in fiscal year 2010-11 associated with calendar
