Modified Rides | International Modified Car Network

I'm going to be reviewing your forum with Windows XP latest & updated version of OS, 1680 x 1050 pixels resolution and Mozilla Firefox 5.0 web browser. I also want to say that I haven't meant to be rude, or insult you or your form by writing this review. I just wanted to point out flaws and mistakes that, by my oppinion, should be corrected or replaced. So, no rudeness and insulting of any kind intended. Also, forgive me my gramatic and tense mistakes, I'm not a native English speaker, it's my second laguage and still improving it.

First Impressions - Average
The first thing I have run onto was a website. It’s a great when you have cars topic, because there are always new car models and new which can be announced & seen better on the site. But the website it’s a bit too much compacted, texts are harder to read, images are too close one to another, but the columns and magazine-style is great. Every section of the site is well used, it just needs a bit of groupation, starting from YouTube video clips to wallpapers. I would recommend more space between them and a short description of what can be see on the videos. All in all, website is okay, but you need to work on readability and design, and sprinkle a little of life onto the black-whiteness. My first impression of the forum is simple designed and a bit boring forum. Why do I say boring? Because is’s eye-unnatractive. Black and white combination is good, but it missed something attention-catching, which will make forum modernier and staying on it would be a pleasure. It looks like it lacks life. Header is simple, so as the navigation, but it would be better if it could be move a bit higher and make the empty part smaller. Section with many car models is eye-pricking, because it contains too many subforums. Forums link in the navigation bar isn’t very visible, and I had to search a bit untill I found it. Also, new, no new, and lock icons are too simple, so I would recommend small cars which will make the forum more attractive. If I would click on forum link, I would not know what is the forum about unless I’ve seen the sections. The person needs to have at least a little clue what’s the forum about before it reads the description. All in all, first impressions are okay, but it needs a lot of working on to stay alive, from design and activity aspect.

Graphics & Layout - Poor
The forum is quite simple, there are white and black details, and a bit of red on the logo and navigation bar. I think it’s too boring .People need to feel comfortable and a little entertained and impressed while browsing. They feel boredom here. There is too much space in the header, at the navigation bar, use your efforts and make it smaller. As for the more empty space, there’s a lot of it in the car models category, because there are so many models. My suggestion is to put a link in the section description which will take people to the topic which contains links to all of the models. So, you visit
Admin Panel >> Display >> Structure and hierarchy >> Sub-level links on index >> No

And after that, make the topic and fill it with links. Icons are very monotonous. They lack life, and instead of the text, they should contain some car logo or car itself. It will make the forum more functional in perceptive sense, and bring back the car joy. The background is okay, and makes the forum body more effective. The thing which would be fantastic is that the topic part should be rearranged like this

It looks great and gives the complete impression. I can’t tell exactly if this tutorial can be found somewhere here, but a little of research doesn’t hurt. The conclusion is that you have to work on the design, and the key thing is life-enchanting the fourm. Isn’t it nice when you see precious, beautifuly designed and polished car, rather than a rusty junk one? So, start polishing!

Forum Activity - Very Poor
As I can see on the administrator profile, the forum exists since 2008! And has 194 & 1017 posts only! It’s very irresponsible and tells us two things: Forums isn’t worked on enough and the owner isn’t laborious enough! If you want results and desired look, you have to work constantly on yourself, don’t you? The same thing applies to forums. If you don’t work constantly on it, you won’t have visitors, posts and activity. So, start advertisting. Banner and link echanging, advertising on other forums, referals, etc... All of this will make the better search engine ranks and increase the forum members number. You should concentrate on the websites and forums about cars and car-industry more.

Staff & Usergroups - Very Poor
I can’t say much about staff, because I can’t click on the legend (groups), but roughly, when I see the number of posts, admin will suffice the moderating needs. But when I see that the admin has 700(!) posts, which is 2/3rds of all forum posts, I get sick. It’s very bad, because, basically, admin is pretty much the only poster out there. So, start advertising and get the staff gradually.

Originality & Unique Quality - Very Poor
It’s inevitable that you aren’t the only car-oriented website and forum on the web, there is about hundreds of it. But you don’t have anything unique to show, which can get you out of the masses. The thing you need is more unique and modernier design, better and improved forum index, and more activity. If you can get this all together, along with something unique which would exist on your foum only, but it’s up to you to thing of it, you would do much better. Conclusion: Work, try, and everthing will pay off.
