So do you have the license to distribute the free music? If not, i don't think you can.

There just mixtapes, do you really have to have a license for that? Wow, okay then. What about the members on the forums? Are they allowed to post links to their OWN music?

But the owner of the forum is responsible for all content that is posted on that forum. Even if you didn't post it yourself.

if it is something that is free for use, then just add the source link in with the post so it proves it's free for use and to download.

also you have to have your moderators or self check every ones download links,
Just because they say it may be one thing dont mean it's not something else that can be in violation, so you have to be sure to dl,check and moderate all links posted.

As far as your own original music sure, but i would suggest that anyone sharing their own music they have composed to have it copyrighted first so no one steels it.. Any good musician or artist would knows this, but just reminder.

You have no control over what someone may post.
But yes, it is your responsibly to moderate and remove any content that may be in violation.Thats why it's good to have staff, and check all post as they are created.
You can not allow anything in violation to remain or you can lose your forum.

The links that will be posted on the forums (the free mixtape links, that is) are the OFFICIAL download links. The mods will always be checking them, yes.

If a member does do something stupid, and we don't notice it, and someone that works at Forumotion see's is, do we get a warning to remove the link beforehand or does the whole forum get shutdown without no warning? If that's the case, I'll have to get more moderators...

Well thats fine, But you are not understanding what i am saying.
You should also include the link to the page they are from that states they are indeed free for use.. Because if someone complains to forumotion litigation's, and all litigation's see are links then they have no way of knowing if they are for free use or not, even if you or a member states in in the post it dose not prove anything.. So it would be in your best interest to add the source link to the page that says it is free for use,

Well it depends, i mean if it was something like pornography and it looks as if you are allowing such things to remain, then they would just shut it down without any notice.
But if forumotion got a complaint, went on to your forum and did not see any other violations and appears that you do not allow things that break TOS. Then they would just give you a warning with time to remove whatever content.. If that happens you would see the warning in you ACP homepage.

It is very important that you keep up on all post, have your staff along with your self just check/moderate post as they are posted and you will be fine.You may also want to add your own additional rules to your forum as well. Also sure to warn or ban any members that do not respect forumotions TOS as well as your own rules.

Yeah, my forum rules state all that. No porn, no illegal torrents or stuff down those lines... I'll just remind them all to state evidence to show that the mixtape is indeed free-2-download.
