What happens when you put a forum under construction? I plan to do this soon, so I decided to test it, just to see what happens. However, the site looked as it normally does. Is this just because I'm an admin?

Normal members can't do anything.

It will display a message to the users. Admins can get into the site and do work.

That's right. You can also customise the message which appears to normal members. Please note that the construction mode only lasts for 24 hours. After that, you must manually re-activate it.
