Hello! I'm having an issue with topics containing multiple pages. The problem is that when a topic gets enough posts to have more than one page, and you click on that topic, you're taken to page 2 (with the oldest posts) instead of page 1 (with the newest posts). In my AP, I do have "Sort the posts of a topic by" set to "Post's date (most recent in first)" in every, but I'm not sure how to fix it to where when you click on a topic, it opens to page 1 instead of page 2.

In ACP General>>Forum>>Categories and forums---> modify a forum
try these options and in different order, save after each time you alter, until you get the order you want posts to show
then do the same for all forums

Thank you for your suggestion! However, I have done this. I like the way that the newest post in a topic shows at the top, but not that when I open a topic with more than one page, I'm automatically routed to the 2nd page, which are the older posts.
EDIT: Ok, I've just learned that this happens only when I'm routing to the topic from the Latest Topics widget, not from clicking on the topic in the forum itself. Any way to fix this?

What is the URL of the forum that is working this way? that is to say what is the forum address?

If you're going to test it out, try clicking on "What We Seek" in the Latest Topics, for an easy find of a multiple page topic.

i see that...It could be a characteristic of the widget for that particular forum config
If you check the website I have on my profile and the latest topics they are all multiple pages to see what the differences are
my widget config is
and of course my forums modification is in a different order from yours

Hm. It looks like the only differences between your widget and mine are mainly the scrolling and the number of topics. When I click on your latest topic, it seems to be doing the same thing mine is (going to the 2nd page first).
Do you know if there's a way to fix this in the widget template? If so, please tell me where/how (I know nothing ^_^)

If you click a topic in the latest topics widget, then you will be automatically brought to the second page (The page with the latest posts).

In ACP Modules>>Portal & Widgets>>forum widgets management...click on the middle icon in the Recent Topics widget and set as per the recent options photo I sent in my previous post.
pS .if it automatically goes to the last page, then to use it you would need to reset your forums config if you want to use it correctly or you could go to widgetbox and make a recent post widget similar to the one i use in my portal
PPS. i switch between my forums in my profile from time to time so if anyone reads this at a later time it might not apply

I have it set to where the latest post displays first, which means the first page. It does this fine when a topic is clicked on from the forum, but routes to the second page when clicked on from the "Latest Topics" widget, which has the older posts.
Musket, I'm sorry, I don't understand. My widget is set up just the same as yours, aside from the scrolling being activated and the number of topics listed. When I click on your recent topics in both the forum, it's doing the same thing mine is (routing to the second page, where the older posts are, instead of page one, with the newer posts). I do see where the widget on your portal doesn't do this, but I'd like to stick with the widget I have, if at all possible.

I'm just trying to see if anyone else has any troubleshooting for me, especially since my widget is set up the same as yours I'd rather not have to put something else on my site that causes more ads, lol, especially if there's a possibility that this may be fixed, perhaps in the templates?

No, I'd like it go to the latest post. What it's doing now is going to the first (earliest) post, instead of the latest post.

being that your with PHPBB2, this should be easy to fix
