Naruto: Unknown Realms

Graphics & Layout - Rating: Average

To start off, I'd like to say your banner is interesting in its own understated way. The font is acceptable and the image rendering of Naruto isn't too bad. It might look better with more of a background, however, maybe like a scene from the anime.

Now, about your navigation bar.. it certainly isn't very good. It's difficult to see the words properly, the font is boring, and really could be swapped out for a more modern set. Look for some contemporary themed navbars that are interesting, or maybe even make your own NavBars that have Naruto designs on them! When you have the images right, I recommend you add some CSS effects to make the images hover as this will enhance the effect.

Your color setup isn't the best. It's very dark and a little depressing, and there are very little graphics or images anywhere. The black background doesn't help either. Your site is about an anime, and so thus you can have a HUGE range of design options to pick from. Instead of making everything dark-ish, at least try to add some different, whiter colors that are more conducive to reading and blend it into your theme. I'd like to add to you that from my experiences, the lighter themed forums seem to enjoy more success.

As I see your forum layout, I notice the great forum section descriptions. I see you have put in great effort and that's definitely a plus to your website. However, you highly recommend you give each forum section an interesting icon/graphic. Doing so instantly increases the appeal of your forum by up to 30%. I always stress the importance of this as members will be bored by seeing section after section of text. A well designed website never forgets the importance of beautiful graphics.

As I look through your forum index, I see your forum's New Post and No New Post icons aren't very good. They're too big and also grabs more attention of the eyes that the rest of the board, and so thus a guest viewing through you board sees only a bunch of Sasukes on the left side! For these icons, my best suggestion would be finding something small and less flashy, but still interesting. Try maybe some small graphics of shurikens, knives, or other weapons. I've seen some Naruto boards use red clouds, sharingan eyes, even ramen bowls. If you wish to add a nice touch to the look, have the image be something from the anime!

Overall, I saw you need more color and invigorating content on your board. Having great graphics gives your forum that special look and keeps members interested and coming back. Also, in addition to everything I've said, try adding some cool widgets to your forum too!

Your forum is quite new and you're off to a good start. Keep working on those graphics and that design and we'll see how you do on a future review!
