Derived Fact table with additional measures / foreign keys ... ?
Hi,
Let's say we have a fact table: FactReceipt
which contains all our receipting transactions that occur during the month,
we may have 5 receipts of different types during one month for one contract.
Now let's say we build another fact table that contains aggregations (derived from FactReceipt):

This inquiry could actually be two questions, but the requirement is really presentation of row-wise high volume transactional data in a column-wise (columnar) FACT table.
Here is a sample transactional data set:

I've read different opinions about the usage of dates in fact tables. If a date is NEVER used to filter and only reported, what is the purpose of adding it as a date key instead of a plain date type? Aren't we wasting the resources to get to the date
