Regarding Factless Fact Tables
Some time ago I was asked to build the BI platform for a road safety organization. The warehouse was built of three primary fact tables, each with a collection of associated dimensions. I was wondering if there is anything wrong with having a factless sales table?
Basically all I am required to do is to count up the total number of sales that occurred each month grouped by product type. So basically all I have in my fact table
We are working in a MS SQL Server 2005 environment using SSIS to populate our DW DB and SSAS to build our OLAP database from that DW DB.
It is not a huge database in the scheme of things - 28 million payments, 6 million customers, 2 million membership
