How can I limit the capacity of an SD card?

hello guys,

Does any of you how can I temporarily reduce the capacity of an SD card?

I have an older photo camera that can take in a SD of max. 512MB. I have a SD of 8GB. Is there a way to format it to fool the camera into thinking this is a 512 MB?

Thanks!
