I cant get my New Pandigital to turn on home screen

Hi,

I just got my Pandigital 9 inch from QVC yesterday. I charged full. Then try to turn it on. It turn on the Pandigital screen but that is it. No home screen. Nothing else. I tried to turn it OFF and did able to turn it off after awhile.
I need help. This would be my gift to my husband this Christmas. Anyone having same problems?
